Latest revision of creation tool also adds ability to save and load, FBX importer and engine tweaks

GameGuru targets students with standalone release and content controls

GameGuru has released its newest update, introducing a number of features aimed at up-and-coming developers.

Version 1.13 of the creation software adds a content restriction mode allowing parents and teachers to restrict content such as violence.

In addition, the tool has been made available in a non-Steam standalone installer format, opening up access behind networked systems such as school infrastructure.

Elsewhere, users now have the ability to save and load progress, as well as import FBX 3D model files.

There are also a number of smaller tweaks to the GameGuru engine and editor, such as enhanced player scripts, explosions and AI, plus faster game restarts.

“The addition of parental controls means that kids can really hone their game development skills with GameGuru in a safe environment,” said development director Rick Vanner.

“The standalone version means that GameGuru can now be used in an educational environment to help kids easily and quickly learn coding and game development skills.”
