As many as 100 jobs could be axed

Gameloft closes New York studio, report claims

Gameloft has closed its New York studio and laid off all its staff, it has been claimed.

As reported by Gamasutra, the move could affect as many as 100 staff employed at the office. Studio lead programmer Kevin Chen is also said to have confirmed the closure on Facebook. He claimed that all development personnel were laid off.

In response to the claims, a Gameloft spokesperson said: "Gameloft is actively managing its production organisation and is refocusing on its most efficient and experienced creation centres in order to adapt to rapidly changing market conditions and to grow its revenues faster and more profitably."

Despite apparently shutting down the studio, Gameloft still lists a number of jobs for the office on its website.

Update: A Gameloft spokesperson has told Develop they have no further comment on the story.
