As we count down to the awards event on Wednesday October 14th, MCV profiles the finalists for this year’s Games Media Awards.

Here we look at the news writer category.

Rob Crossley

Rob Crossley joined GameSpot’s London team in September 2014 and six months later was promoted to the role of UK editor. His career began ten years ago with a postgraduate diploma in media law and magazine journalism, after which he worked for EDGE, Develop, MCV and CVG.

Tom Phillips

Tom Phillips writes for Eurogamer. He enjoys stealthily referencing Destiny within anything he types, including awards bios.

Leon Hurley

Leon’s technically a veteran games journalist, having starting as a staff writer on Official PlayStation 2 Magazine wayback. But let’s not talk about that. Having helped launch Kotaku UK previously, he’s currently the executive news editor for GamesRadar+, overseeing the global news team. The site’s motto is ‘high fiving you across the internet’ and we focus on the big mainstream releases, although his rule for news has always been ‘is it interesting?’
