Gamescom 2010 draws record crowds

The number of Gamescom attendees reached an all-time high at the 2010 expo with more than a quarter of a million attending the show.

A total of 254,000 people made their way to Gamescom 2010 – up from last year’s 245,000. And of the 2010 figure just 18,900 were trade visitors.

On top of this there were 4,400 media representatives reporting from the festival who travelled from a mixture of 29 countries around the world.

The news comes following an announcement made last week that Gamescom drew a record number of exhibitors, with 505 firms attending from 33 different countries.

This year we managed to make Gamescom even larger and more international, as well as welcome more exhibitors and visitors,” said event organiser Koelnmesse GmbH MD Oliver P. Kuhrt.

The amount of positive feedback from the industry, trade and private visitors as well as the media shows us that Gamescom 2010 was a completely successful event.”

German Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software MD Olaf Wolters added: We brought together more international industry representatives in Cologne than ever before, thus anchoring the position of Gamescom as the international industry trade fair.

We are already looking forward to a successful continuation next year.”

Last year the event in Germany pulled in 249,000 visitors and 458 exhibitors from a total of 31 countries. Gamescom 2011 has already been dated.
