Event hosted 806 companies from 45 countries

Gamescom attracts record 345,000 visitors

Europe’s largest games conference Gamescom attracted a record 345,000 attendees last week.

The show ran from Wednesday, August 5th to Sunday, August 9th, and played host to 806 companies from 45 countries. This was an increase of 14 per cent from last year. In total there were 33,200 trade visitors.

This year’s show also saw the conference expand into extra floor space spanning some 193,000 square meters.

"Gamescom has reached the next level – it has not only experienced further growth this year in terms of the exhibition space and the numbers of trade and private visitors. Thanks to many new events and campaigns, it has also become even more diversified this year. It is a reflection of the increasing significance of computer and video games in our society," said BIU MD Maximilian Schenk.

"Gamescom has impressively confirmed its exceptional position as the world’s largest event for computer and video games and Europe’s most important business platform this year."

Gamescom 2016 has already been dated for August 17th to the 21st at the Koelnmesse in Cologne.
