GameStop: Kinect-less Xbox One ‘flying off the shelves’

Retailer GameStop has suggested that the latest cut-price Xbox One bundle is selling well.

Microsoft’s 349/$399 SKU for the first time doesn’t include the Kinect 2.0 camera and as a result is 50/$100 cheaper than the bundle that does include Kinect. It went on sale on June 9th.

"They went on sale in GameStop yesterday; these things started to fly off the shelves," senior vice president of merchandising Bob Puzon told GameSpot. "It’s a huge win and a huge opportunity for us."

Puzon added that the full-price hardware bundle is still very vibrant" and that it will be interesting to see how many of those folks come back and buy the Kinect" once the camera is released as a standalone purchase later this year.

The proof of the pudding, of course, will be in whether or not Microsoft decides to share some actual concrete sales numbers with the world.

Its most recent update was in April when it claimed to have shipped 5m consoles worldwide. It wouldn’t announce sales figures, however, leaving Sony to scoop the headlines with 7m+ unit sales for PS4 during the same time period.
