GDC 2011 expands

Organisers of GDC 2011 have expanded the range of summits planned for the event, as well as sending out a call for summit lecture submissions open until October 14th.

Taking place on the first two days of GDC 2011, which will run from February 28th to March 4th next year, the GDC Summits will now feature a GDC Smartphone Summit, as well as seeing the Social & Online Games Summit and Independent Games Summit come back into rotation.

Other summits will include the 2011 Serious Games Summit, which will look at health and healthcare on day one and the rising trend of ‘gamification’ on day two of the summits.

The AI Summit and Game Localisation Summit will also feature, backed up by tutorials throughout the Monday and Tuesday to be announced at a later date.

Confirmed advisors for each summit include Steve Meretzky from Playdom for the Social & Online Games Summit; Jane McGonigal from the Institute for the Future for the Serious Games Summit; Bart Decrem from Disney Mobile for the GDC Smartphone Summit and Dave Mark from Intrinsic Algorithm for the AI Summit.

The GDC Summit advisory committees are looking for submissions in all of the summits planned.

GDC 2011 will be held in the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, marking the event’s 25th year.
