Rigging and interactive posing capabilities added into new character animation tools

GDC: Modo 601 integrates Ikinema Runtime tech

Luxology has integrated Ikinema’s RunTime tech into its newly released 3D content creation software modo 601, it has been announced.

Ikinema’s tools have been used to bring rigging and interactive posing capabilities to modo’s new character animation tools.

The latest modo release also includes built-in dynamics, volumetric rendering and enhanced retopology modelling tools in what the the middleware outfit describes as a "full pipeline solution" for artists.

“Bringing IKinema tech into modo was a smooth process for us,” said Luxology president Brad Peebler, president.

“We also found that once it was in, the flexibility of the code allowed us to adapt it to a wide range of applications, from simple-to-use posing tools to sophisticated IK support for complex character rigs. Each an essential piece of the modo 601 character animation experience.”

Ikinema CEO Alexandre Pechev added: “Getting animators in touch with their work faster is what we do. And in the right hands, our production-proven easy animation system can do big things for those with big ideas. modo 601 is a great example of that, and we are pleased that our technology will have a hand in making its users’ visions come alive.”
