Ghost Recon: Future Soldier revealed

Ubisoft has at last officially confirmed what many suspected – that a new Ghost Recon title will be released this Christmas.

It will be called Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and is being developed by the same team that made Advanced Warfighter 2. The game will, according to Ubisoft, go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience”.

Furthermore, the publisher has confirmed an Xbox 360 multiplayer beta that will be available to those who pre-order the title on Microsoft’s console.

On that theme, Ubisoft’s press release makes no mention of any format other than Xbox 360, though neither does it state that the game will be an exclusive. When asked by MCV a Ubisoft spokesperson said:

We aren’t communicating the formats just yet, you will have to wait for further announcements in the coming months.”

The first next-gen Ghost Recon was an Xbox 360 exclusive, and PS3 owners had to wait some time for the second to make its move to Sony’s console. Fellow Tom Clancy release Splinter Cell: Conviction is exclusive to Microsoft’s machine, and will be released on April 16th.
