Glu mobile appoints new CEO, acquires controlling interest in Crowdstar

Glu Mobile has hired a new CEO, appointing former EA Mobile GM Nick Earl to the post.

Earl replaces Niccolo De Masi, who has moved into the role of executive chairman at the company. Earl himself joined Glu as president of global studios in 2015, after stints with EA, Eidos and Kabam.

The news comes as part of a trio of announcements. Glu Mobile, best known for Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, has also just released its financial results for the quarter, revenues for the three months leading to September 30th came in at $51.4 million. Revenues for the three months ending September 30th came in at $51.4 million, a $12 million year-on-year.

Glu claimed that big revenue drivers this year were Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, Gordon Ramsey Dash and Cooking Dash 2016.

The final part of the announcement is that they’ve acquired a controlling interest in California-based developer Crowdstar, stating that it hopes to become the leader in the fashion game industry after the deal, which is worth $45.5m.

Crowdstar are best known for their title Covet: Fashion, which has been downloaded more than 35 million times, but also their new title, Design Home, which is currently under soft launch in Canada.
