Cory Barlog to work on Tomb Raider and 'yet to be announced new title'

God of War director joins Crystal Dynamics

Former God of War director Cory Barlog has joined Square Enix developer Crystal Dynamics, it has been revealed.

The industry verteran is set to join develoment on the studio’s Tomb Raider reboot, as well as a “yet to be announced new title”.

"Crystal has pulled together some of the best teams in the industry to deliver against upcoming projects and future IP," Crystal Dyanmics head Darrell Gallagher told industryGamers.

“Cory’s heritage in building industry defining action adventure titles, together with our focus on delivering quality character driven blockbuster entertainment makes Cory a tremendously exciting addition to the team."

Barlog has previously worked at Sony Santa Monica as writer/director on the God of War series, but departed the developer in 2007.

He later began work with film director George Miller to adapt his Mad Max franchise to video games, although it is unclear what his apparent departure will mean for the project.
