Rockstar has pulled microtransactions from Grand Theft Auto Online as its servers continue to struggle.
The multiplayer for GTA V launched on October 1st and has experienced a number of problems since going live.
Rockstar confirmed reports that a number of PS3 players had been unable to connect to online servers due to a PlayStation network issue that meant it was limiting the amount of concurrent users.
It also admitted there was an issue preventing some players from accessing the tutorial missions on both PS3 and Xbox 360, and that there was some instability across its GTA Online servers outside of the tutorial.
As a result, Rockstar has now taken steps to disable cash purchases in-game while it attempts to smooth the playing experience and fix the problems plaguing the multiplayer portion of the game.
"For the time being and until we have been able to get everybody access to GTA Online and things are running smoothly, we have disabled the option of purchasable GTA$ cash packs," read a statement from the studio.
"Players can however keep on earning GTA$ by pulling off Jobs and other profitable gameplay activities rather than purchasing cash packs."
It added the studio was working "around the clock" to iron out the technical issues as soon as possible, and encouraged players to report problems to the game’s support site.
