Co-founders spent seven years working at Fruit Ninja studio

Halfbrick veterans form new studio Protostar

Two former members of Australian developer Halfbrick Studios have branched out on their own, forming new firm Protostar.

The new studio was founded by Matt Knights and Dean Loades, who have worked at Halfbrick for seven years. Protostar is currently working on its first mobile game, according to Gamasutra.

Knights leaves his position as lead artist at Halfbrick, a role he has held since 2007, while programmer Loades started at the Fruit Ninja studio back in 2006.

Protostar’s first game will be Checkpoint Champion, a top-down racing game that revolves around short challenges. It will be released for iOS on November 20, then on Android at a later date.
