New license deal brings Scaleform and Beast to game engine

Havok Vision Engine integrates Autodesk tech

Interactive software firm Havok has agreed a license agreement with Autodesk to include Scaleform and Beast into its new Vision Engine, the company has announced.

The integration of Autodesk Scaleform tech means that the Havok Vision Engine now allows for the creation of users interfaces through Flash 10 and ActionScript 3.0. The addition of Beast meanwhile offers customers extra lighting capabilities.

“We have seen extensive use of Scaleform and Beast across our Vision Engine clients and a strong interest in a tighter integration between our technologies,” said Havok MD David Coghlan.

“This Vision Engine bundle, which also includes Havok Physics and Havok AI, has become our standard Vision offering, extending the reach of both companies’ technologies across new geographies and market segments."

Autodesk VP of Games Marc Stevens added: “Havok and Autodesk have worked closely together for many years and we are very excited about the opportunity.

"We are confident that this integration can provide tremendous value for Havok and Autodesk customers."

Havok’s tools, including the Vision Engine, have been used on titles such as Uncharted 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and L.A. Noire.
