Hot Pursuit ‘is best NFS yet’

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit will be the best game in the racing series’ 16 year history, says EA.

The firm told MCV that the combination of acclaimed developer Criterion Games, a socially-focused online mode and official car licences makes the franchise more accessible than before.

UK product manager for Need for Speed Kevin Flynn said: This is definitely the best Need for Speed I’ve seen to date. I thought Shift was a great game but different and a bit serious, while Hot Pursuit is more fun and accessible.”

Flynn said that this accessibility will be due to the in-game social network, Autolog, which allows players to share their fastest lap times and accomplishments with friends, then compete challenges against them online or offline.

The game is all about social competition,” adds Flynn.

The connectivity really opens the game up – we know that people have families, jobs and social lives, so Autolog is something that’s going to appeal to a broad audience in a massive way.”

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is released on November 19th for Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii. It is in development at Criterion Games, the studio which worked on the popular multiformat Burnout racing game series.
