HTC Vive VR has been revealed as the most popular headset among games developers.
The device just topped the pioneering Oculus Rift in a poll of which platform studios are currently building games for, VentureBeat reports. 48.6 per cent of respondents are developing for HTC Vive, while 43.2 per cent are building for Oculus.
The two headsets had a solid lead over the next contender, Samsung Gear VR, which is only being worked on by 33.8 per cent of virtual reality studios. This was closely followed by Google Cardboard at 29.2 per cent and Google Daydream at 14.6 per cent.
The weakest by far was Google Tango, with 7.3 per cent of devs making games for it. PlayStation VR was also quite low, with 12.9 per cent of devs behind it, although this is likely a sign of how few studios are developing console games rather than a lack of interest in the platform.
Just under a quarter of the studios surveyed were not currently developing for virtual or augmented reality devices, but interest in doing so for the Vive and Rift in future was high.
When asked to only pick one device for which they would develop their next VR title, 34.6 per cent of participants opted for the HTC Vive, while 23.4 per cent favoured the Rift. However, 78.1 per cent of devs surveyed said their next project would not be exclusive to a single platform.
