Human Element on ‘hiatus’ as Robotoki ceases operations

Robert Bowling’s Robotoki has shut down, forcing the developer to put the indie studio’s upcoming title Human Element on hiatus.”

Bowling opened up the company in 2012, following his stint as creative strategist with Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward.

"This week we have ceased operations at Robotoki and the development of Human Element is on hiatus," Bowling said in a statement to Joystiq.

"We were actively negotiating a new publishing deal for the premium version of Human Element but unfortunately I was unable to continue to self-fund development until a deal was finalized."

Human Element lost its original publisher Nexon this past November, when the studio made the decision to ditch the game’s free-to-play elements.

Bowling did not specify if he plans on continuing down the publisher route for funding, or if the game’s development team will seek out other methods.
