No Brakes Games and its partner publisher Curve Digital have announced that its physics-based puzzle platformer Human: Fall Flat has sold five million units.
Originally launched on PC/Mac in 2016, Human: Fall Flat was later released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One the subsequent year. Thanks to a steady stream of free content, the game hit two million sales by this time last year, and four by June 2018.
"When I created Human: Fall Flat, I was just a lone developer with a day job trying my hand at creating something funny and new," said creator Tomas Sakalauskas. "Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to sell a million copies. And 5 million? I’m flummoxed! I can’t express how grateful I am."
“It’s true to say that Human Fall Flat has put us on the global map," Curve’s Simon Byron told MCV last year. "We’re talking to companies now, where we were struggling to get a foot through the door before, but because of its success in Asia, it’s really opened some doors for us. We worked so hard to launch that game and keep the momentum going."
"It went crazy. I was on paternity leave over Christmas and I could see the emails and people being like ‘Have you seen what’s going on with Human Fall Flat?’. It was unbelievable. From July 2016 to October 2017, we’d sold about 300,000 copies on Steam and then over Christmas , in single days we were doing over 100,000 a day. It got absolutely crazy and it’s been transformative and it’s meant that we needed to really up our game in terms of making sure that we’re supporting it."
