IDF 2013 – what’s happening in software?

The Intel Developer Forum is back! It is the leading forum for anyone using Intel Architecture or Intel technologies, and will be held in San Francisco on the 10th – 12th of September. This year, it’s more technical than ever.

If you thought Intel Developer Forum 2013 (IDF) was only about processors, chips, and hardware, you’re in for a treat. With 40 billion connected devices expected by 2020, the integration of software and hardware has never been more important.

There’s a huge amount going on throughout the week, and you can see a full rundown of what’s going on by looking through the event schedule. Readers of this blog are no doubt more interested in the software side of technology, so here are just a few events over the course IDF 2013 that focus on the future of mobile, software, and cross-platform technologies:

• Doug Fisher, vice president and general manager of Intel Software and Services Group, gives his perspective on the future of software.

• 45 software technical sessions, hands-on labs and poster chats cover multiple OS developments, open innovations, big data, services, security and more.

• Special session tracks are planned on Security and UEFI.

• Tech Insight session: HTML5 – the Most Viable Path to Seamless Computing will be led by Moh Haghighat, senior principal engineer.

• Sneak Peak into Intel Research looks five to 15 years into the future – featuring Peter Biddle, Genevieve Bell, Brian David Johnson, and others.
