Awards show finalists welcomed on Valve platform for second year

IGF-Steam deal renewed for 2014

The agreement between the Independent Games Festival and Valve that gave all IGF finalists a Steam distribution agreement has been renewed for 2014, the organization has announced.

The deal was first put in place last year, and awards all Main Competition finalists in the annual awards show a place on the PC’s most popular digital distribution platform.

Several of last year’s finalists have already appeared on Steam, including Kentucky Route Zero, MirrorMoon EP, Cart Life, Starseed Pilgrim, and Gone Home.

The Main Competition includes all jury-voted categories: The Seumas McNally Grand Prize, Excellence in Design, Excellence in Art, Excellence in Audio, Excellence in Narrative, and even the Nuovo Award for innovation.

The finalists for the 2014 IGF will be revealed in January, and the winners announced in March at the live award show at GDC 2014 in San Francisco.
