Suspend/Resume coming to PS4 via software update tomorrow

Sony will roll out its 2.50 PS4 firmware update tomorrow (March 26th) ahead of Friday’s release of exclusive From Software title Bloodborne.

Chief among the new features is the ability to suspend and resume games immediately on power-up, without the need to reload the title between game sessions.

SharePlay and Remote Play has also been updated to support 60fps, while clips can now be uploaded directly to Dailymotion.

Users will also be able to opt for system updates to be installed automatically from this point on.

Also incoming is the ability to back-up and restore the console’s HDD to USB, including save data, game installs and video clips, as well as improvements to the Friends system (along with closer integration with Facebook) and the chance to join friends in-game directly from the dashboard news feed.

Trophy features have been enhanced, too, with more ordering options and the ability to share Trophy data on social media. DualShock 4 button configurations can now be optimised as well.

There are also some accessibility tweaks, included inverted colours, enlarged text, bolder fonts, high-contrast UI options and text-to-speech – which also includes message and party chat.

Verified accounts are being introduced for developers, producers and designers while sub-accounts can now also be upgraded to master accounts directly through the console.

The full list of improvements can be found on the PlayStation Blog.
