India now the fourth-largest market for Android downloads

Android device activations in India have jumped more than 400% over the past year, Google has announced.

So rapid is the growth, said a post on the Android Develoeprs Blog, that Android users in India downloaded more apps in the last six months than they did in the previous three years combined.

Android adoption in Idnia has received a shot in the arm with the easy availability of Android phones and tablets at sub-Rs 10,000 prices. That has in-turn catapulted Indian into the fourth-biggest market in the world for app downloads.

The revelations were made in a blog post announcing support for paid apps from Indian developers on the Google Play marketplace.

Maybe now Indian moble game developers won’t completely ignore the Indian audience.
