Tequila Works' debut title Deadlight to release on Xbox in summer

Indie puzzler seals XBLA Microsoft publishing deal

New indie studio Tequila Works has sealed a deal with Microsoft to publish its first game puzzle platformer Deadlight on XBLA, it has revealed.

The Xbox exclusive is currently slated for release in the summer, and will be set in an apocalyptic world where players must survive against enemies infected by a mysterious disease that has wiped out most of the world’s population.

The studio, based in Madrid and formed in 2009, currently employs 26 staff, with some developers having previously worked at companies such as Blizzard and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

“Being published by Microsoft Studios, one of the world’s largest publishers, is a true reward for all the team’s hard work,” said Tequila CEO Raul Rubio.

“The opportunity to work with first-party publisher Microsoft Studios is a dream come true, and shows their commitment in the talent of small independent studios.”

Chairwoman Luz Sancho added: “Since our first conversations, Microsoft Studios understood Tequila Works spirit and our attention to detail. They believe in us and the way we create.”
