The debut Insert Coin(s) event took place in Sydney last night, and co-creator Pat Kolan has confirmed to MCV his plans to expand the concept for future events.
The event was held at the Oxford Art Factory, and hundreds people came through the door to enjoy live music and art performances, a 50s style diner and countless classic videogame arcade machines.
Also present was Resistance 3 from Sony, which launched on the night and had multiplayer stations occupied all evening, and FIFA 12 from EA, which was playable three weeks before its 19th September release.
Pat Kolan, co-creator of Insert Coin(s), told MCV: "Sydney’s games and culture community came out in full force – I was totally blown away by the numbers. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and there’s crazy demand for another, so who am I to say no?"
"Keep an eye on our Facebook group and we’ll try and get the next even announced before too long. It will be bigger and better next time."
The night was a mixture of fans eager to play upcoming games early or relive games from their childhood, industry figures, journalists, developers and academics, and was a successful clash of all different facets of the Australian gaming community.
