Japan: PSP triumphs in hardware sale battle

The PSP’s resurgence has continued in Japan, with Sony’s handheld trumping all other hardware opponents in the March sales battle,

PSP sold 415,415 units throughout the month, way ahead of rival DS – though Nintendo’s machine still sold an impressive 255,124 in the period. The PSP was boosted by the release of Capcom’s hugely popular Monster Hunter Freedom 2G.

Elsewhere in the market, Nintendo’s Wii trounced quasi-rival PS3 with sales of 265,542 – Sony sold 81,579 consoles in the period. Both, however, were way ahead of Microsoft Xbox 360 which sold of 13,127.
