Takahashi had inspiration for new game while playing with his son

Katamari creator and ex-Journey dev working on new title

Katamari creator Keita Takahashi is collaborating on a new project with indie studio Funomena.

Robin Hunicke, co-founder of San Francisco-based Funomena, revealed the partnership with Takahashi at Horizon, during E3 2013, as reported by Edge last week.

The only details that have been released so far is that the game will be based around the idea of blocks coming to life – an idea that came to Takahashi while playing with his two-year-old son.

Funomena co-founders Hunicke and Martin Middleton both previously worked on Thatgamecompany’s Journey, as executive producer and programmer respectively.

In November 2012, Takahashi said he’d also be working with another LA-based indie creator, Adam Saltsman, on a project.
