New Frankfurt-based studio to release first 3D title in the summer

Keen and Flaregames launch joint F2P venture

German developer Keen Games has partnered with mobile publisher Flaregames to launch a new joint development venture.

The new Frankfurt-based studio, Keen Flare, will develop “high-quality” free-to-play games for all major mobile platforms.

The developer will be headed up by managing directors Klaas Kersting and Pete Walentin. Flaregames will retain a 51 per cent share in the company, with the remaining portion going to Keen.

Flare will be responsible for publishing games developed by the studio, whilst Keen has moved ten of its developers to the new company.

"With this new company, we are significantly expanding our development capacity for triple-A mobile games,” said Flaregames CEO Klaas Kersting.

“Our esteemed colleagues from Keen are an ideal partner, considering their enormous track record, their quality technology and decades of experience.”

Keen Games COO Pete Walentin added: "The partnership with Flaregames, given their profound knowledge in the field of free-to-play and a very good position as developers, will help us to establish ourselves in this emerging market: After Console, PC, and browser games.

“Soon mobile games will be part of our portfolio, of course keeping with our track record of ‘keen-quality’ that players have come to expect and appreciate."

Keen Flare’s first title is currently slated to release in the summer.
