Kickstarter success Pillars of Eternity sells 500,000 copies

Obsidian’s Kickstarter success Pillars of Eternity has surpassed 500,000 units sold.

The milestoneincludes copies given to backers of the game’s original 2012 Kickstarter campaign, which boasted nearly 74,000 backers combining for just under $4m in funding – obliterating the project’s $1.1m goal.

Obsidian is still adding to the game post-launch, currently working on the delivery of two-part The White March. A related Kickstarter campaign has been successfully funded for a strategic card game based on the property as well, and there are also a few eBooks in the works from the game’s writing team.

"Pillars of Eternity has been a life-changing experience for me, and for everyone involved in its creation,” Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart said. Knowing that over half a million people have gotten to share in that is both flattering and humbling. I want to deeply thank all of our fans and supporters.”
