Kim Kardashian’s sisters sign up for new Glu game

Glu may be entering a period of struggle, but its faith in all things Kardashian is not to be shaken.

VentureBeat reports that the company has signed celebrity pair Kendall & Kylie for an iOS and Android game. Kendall and Kylie, incidentally, are the younger half sisters of Kim Kardashian.

Glu earlier this month described its financial performance in the second half of 2015 as extremely humbling” after titles such as Katy Perry Pop and James Bond: World of Espionage significantly underperformed. So bad was the shortfall that the company shed 50 jobs.

It said at the time that it is to slow the pace at which it signs celebrity deals – although shortly after the report it announced a new partnership with pop queen Taylor Swift.

Indeed, while its wider portfolio has struggled, Kim Kardashian Hollywood has been a smash hit. GameSpot reports that the game has been downloaded over 42m times since the summer of 2014 and hosted around 3.29m game sessions. In its first five quarters the game has generated over $100m in microtransactions.

Featuring the voices, likenesses, and exclusive video messages from Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the game allows players to interact with the sisters as friends and mentors as they work to realize their creative and career aspirations,” Glu said of the new title. Advanced character customization lets players pick and change their unique style, then share their content to grow followers.”

Here’s a trailer for the game, which is out now:
