Konami promises to make good on PES

Konami’s confidence in PES 2011 is the reason for its bold decision to launch Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 on October 8th, just one week after EA launches FIFA 11 – a game tipped to be one of this year’s biggest sellers.

The publisher says PES is back on top of its game and is confident that it can deliver at retail. The development team has totally revamped the game in a bid to claw back attention from its big licence rival.

Konami hopes this will see PES 2011 score big with the critics after a lacklustre showing last year.

PES is and always has been a key title for us,” Konami’s European team leader for PES Jon Murphy told MCV.

PES 2011 is by far the most radical revamp the series has seen in its history, and early word is that the franchise is back on top of its game. The die-hard fanbase is raving about the new direction, and the print press is also incredibly positive about the strides the new game has made.”

PES 2011 features new 360-degree passing, a revised tactical system and an individual power bar underneath each player. The game’s career mode, Master League, has been revamped and taken online for the first time.

Murphy added: Every area of PES 2011 has been overhauled, making for the deepest and most playable football title out there.”

Konami is also backing the release with bumper marketing support, with ads kicking off in gaming, football, lifestyle and sports magazines.

Advertisements will also appear on a number of websites and TV channels.
