The UK games market suffered another monthly drop in sales last month, despite impressive sales of Rockstar’s LA Noire.
Just under 73.2m was generated at UK retail during May, a drop of 5.4 per cent compared to the 77.4m made over the same period in 2010.
In terms of units sales in May, over 2.92m games were bought, a ten per cent drop compared to the 3.3m games sold in May 2010.
It’s no surprise to see Rockstar’s LA Noire was the biggest seller – and by quite some margin.
As a result it means EA’s reign as the UK’s No.1 publisher is over, for a month at least. Take-Two shot straight to the top of the publisher rankings in terms of value and units. The firm’s titles accounted for 17.9 per cent of games sold last month.
Other big risers included Bethesda, Disney and Codemasters. Most games were sold on Xbox 360.
