The London Games Festival was officially launched last night – here’s our guide to all the key events taking place as part of this month’s long celebration of games culture.
BAFTA Annual Lecture with Hideo Kojima

Acclaimed video game director Hideo Kojima will deliver this year’s BAFTA Annual Games Lecture supported by Autodesk on Friday 28 September. The Japanese creator of the hugely successful Metal Gear series will be sharing his views on the creative landscape in games.
The UK’s biggest dedicated public gaming event takes place at Earl’s Court on September 27th, 28th, and 29th – and is be the public’s first opportunity to get their hands on the industry’s key releases.

One Life Left’s Videogame Karaoke

Come sing classic karaoke songs re-written to be about videogames, as Prince’s Purple Rain becomes Heavy Rain, It’s a Sin becomes a tale of murdering Sims, and Lionel Ritchie’s Hello is re-imagined as a song about Master Chief

ExPlay Games Jam
The Science Museum, 17:00
Budding games developers and designers from across the UK are invited to take part in a 24 hour Games Jam at either the Science Museum in London, and The Pervasive Media Studios in Bristol. Completed games will be judged by experts, and winners from each location will be able to showcase their games to the public at the ExPlay Games Festival in Bath in November 2012.

The City Hall art exhibition

A free, five-day exhibition held in the basement of City Hall, showcasing rare behind the scenes artwork taken from the world’s best games. During the exhibition, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on items from the collection, with all proceeds going to charity Special Effect.
