Blazing Griffin purchases rights to The Nightmare Cooperative and Gentlemen!

Lucky Frame bows out of game development

Scottish developer Lucky Frame is bowing out of game development and the team is disbanding.

Studio founder Yann Seznec said despite receiving critical acclaim for its work, low sales had played a part in its decision to leave game development. The team has now disbanded, though Seznec said it is “highly likely” they will collaborate on future projects, potentially under the Lucky Frame name.

Following this decision, Scottish developer Blazing Griffin has acquired the rights to roguelike The Nightmare Cooperative (pictured) and PC and tablet local multiplayer, Victorian-themed death match title Gentlemen!.

Blazing Griffin said it will reveal details on what it plans to do with the IP at a later date, but in general it is looking to expand on the titles with new content and features.

The news comes as the studio has moved into a larger office in Edinburgh earlier this month and welcomed several new team members. One such new hire is artist and animator Sean McIlroy, who worked on both The Nightmare Cooperative and Gentlemen! during his time at Lucky Frame.
