Mario and Skyrim will be launch Switch games, reports claim

Both the new 3D Mario adventure and Bethesda’s RPG Skyrim will launch alongside the Nintendo Switch in March.

That’s according to Lets Play Video Games, which says that the Mario title will feature a 3D open world hub and a structure similar to Mario 64. Online co-op multiplayer will also feature, and a demo is being prepared for January.

The site also claims that Splatoon will be the bundled game that comes with the higher priced 249.99 version of the Switch, with a big focus being on 1v1 multiplayer gameplay across different systems. Additional single player content is also being planned.

In addition to this, Skyrim – over which doubts have been cast thanks to Bethesda’s ongoing silence – is said to most definitely be a launch title. It’s fashioned on the recently released remastered version of the game and will offer mod support, although this is restricted to mods that use existing in-game assets.

The site also confirms previous reports of a delay to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with a release date now set to several months into the Switch’s lifespan”.

A separate report from Emily Rogers says that Mario Kart Switch will actually be a re-tooling of the Wii U game, albeit with additional tracks and characters and a brand new battle mode. A release date of between March and June 2017 is being tooted.
