Senior designer with understanding of LittleBigPlanet, Minecraft and Disney Infinity needed at The Sims studio

Maxis hiring for ‘unique, emerging IP’

The Sims developer Maxis is searching for a senior designer to work on a unannouced product based on a ‘unique, emerging IP’.

The job listing, spotted by DualShockers, isn’t clear on whether or not this IP is new or a previous one revived, but it seems to be centred around user-generated content if the requirements are anything to go by.

Most intriguing is the call for someone with "understanding of other games in the creativity space, including LittleBigPlanet, Minecraft, Roblox, Disney Infinity, Project Spark and other upcoming efforts".

There are also references that suggest the new game involves MMO elements, including requirements such as "understanding of principles of game progression design, crafting trees, technology trees, character RPG-style leveling design and mathematical loot progression modeling" – plus "prior experience in deeply social multiplayer games such as MMOs".

The project is also likely to be free-to-play, with applicants asked display the "ability to weave free-to-play game mechanics with monetisation in simple, natural, respectful ways".

The senior designer will be required to "define and flesh out core systems", such as player goals and drivers, creativity editors, gameplay progressions, in-game economies, technology trees, and mobile and tablet companion app integration.

You can find out more about the role at EA’s careers page.
