PLAYSTATION’S FARGHER DEPARTS TO BECOME HEAD OF UK PR AT ACTIVISION

The publisher has appointed Jonathan Fargher as head of UK PR after a lengthy search.

The PlayStation PR vet will depart his role as senior UK PR manager at Sony to commence the new role from October 7th.

Fargher boasts a 14 year stay at Sony and has helped the firm launch each of its PlayStation consoles.

Prior to his work at Sony, Fargher worked at Psygnosis and has worked on some of the biggest games franchise to date, including Crash Bandicoot, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Uncarted and WipEout.

In the new role he will head Activision’s UK PR activity, managing some of the publisher biggest brands including Skylanders, Call of Duty and Destiny.

He will manage Activision’s team of UK PR managers including Henry Clay and Karen Ward, and will report to European PR head Craig O’Boyle.

Sony Computer Entertainment UK PR boss David Wilson said: Jonathan has been a key PR player at PlayStation for nigh on 14 years in which time he has made a huge contribution to the launches of PS2, PS3, PSP and PS Vita.”

He’s been a much valued member of the team, he’s a big character – the sort that makes working for PlayStation unique and we will all miss him.”

Former EA vice president Jonathan Bunney has joined Digital Capital as marketing boss

Bunney spent over 12 years at EA working across the publisher’s product and marketing divisions.

He had worked on a number of the firm’s key brands including FIFA, Battlefield and Harry Potter.

In the new role, Bunney will oversee Digital Capital’s wide portfolio of games and tech investments.

Owen O’Brien has joined CCP Games as executive producer of EVE: Valkyrie

O’Brien will be based at the developer’s Newcastle studio and will oversee all aspects of the game’s production.

He joins CCP from EA’s Stockholm-based studio DICE, where he led production on Mirror’s Edge.

The opportunity to work with a focused, talented and passionate team at the forefront of game-changing technology is a dream scenario for me,” said O’Brien.

Within the new role, he will report to Sean Decker, senior vice president of production at CCP.

Decker added: His experience bringing Mirror’s Edge to market will be invaluable as we work to make virtual reality an actual reality for gamers worldwide.”
