Morrisons signs new games buyer
Simon Millea is now managing the video games category at?Morrisons, taking on the position of buyer for PC software, games, consoles and hardware accessories.

Millea comes to the position having worked as part of the books Buying team at the supermarket and during his time in the role he helped deliver 28 per cent year-on-year growth.

We are just coming out of a difficult year for Morrisons on the games category, and I have been brought on board to re-focus our strategy for selling games in store, to build stronger relationships with the developers, and better understand our games shoppers at Morrisons,” said Millea.

Things are looking positive for the year ahead so far, and our strategy is aligning well with key players in the industry to ensure we are delivering better for the gaming community.”

Livinstone joins Pandemic
Industry veteran Ian Livingstone has joined social game developer Playdemic as company chairman.

Livingstone has a wealth of experience in the industry, demonstrated by his roles as life president of Eidos, Game Workshop co-founder, co-author of the Next Gen Skills report and UKIE vice-chairman.

The appointment of Ian demonstrates our commitment to creating the highest-quality games”, said Playdemic CEO Paul Gouge.

Ian has operated at the top of the games business for many years and I am confident that his incredible experience and expertise in all aspects of the industry will prove invaluable in Playdemic’s continued growth.”

Livingstone was also awarded a CBE in the 2012 New Year Honours and will help the Cheshire-based studio grow on Facebook and expand into mobile platforms.

Segerstrale departs EA
EA’s digital executive vice president Kristian Segerstrale has left the company. He joined EA after it acquired Playfish, the casual gaming firm Segerstrale co-founded, for $400m. His responsibilities are being taken over by EA COO and former Xbox man Peter Moore. Segerstrale has left the firm to return to work with start-ups.

Ubisoft Reflections names new boss
Pauline Jacquey has been appointed as managing director of Ubisoft Reflections. Jacquey joins the Newcastle-based studio having been at?Ubisoft since 1997 and has worked in the firm’s Paris, Shanghai, Montreal and, most recently, the Pune studio.

In her time at?Ubisoft, Jacquey has worked on games ranging from Ghost?Recon Advanced Warfighter to the mobile version of Assassin’s Creed. In her role at?Reflections, she will be overseeing work on?Watch Dogs as well as a number of yet to be announced projects.
