MCV’s 12 Games of Christmas: Super Smash Bros

This is the big one for Nintendo this Christmas.

Super Smash Bros – for those that have lived under a rock – sees iconic Nintendo characters kick seven bells out of each other.

Featuring video game legends such as Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Pikachu and Kirby, the game is filled with content and unlockables and is a firm favourite amongst Nintendo’s dedicated fanbase.

This year’s title is especially unique in that it also utilises a range of toys called Amiibo, which can introduce characters into the game once the toy is placed on the Wii U NFC reader. The toys act as back-up fighters and fighter data can be stored to them.

What’s more, for the first time, Smash Bros has made its way to a Nintendo portable.

Super Smash Bros for 3DS includes completely new stages and modes, although it has the same roster of fighters as the Wii U game.
