Media Molecule announce partnership with theatre organisation Punchdrunk

Games outfit Media Molecule, best known for Tearaway and Little Big Planet, have announced a partnership with theatre organisation Punchdrunk.

In an announcement on Media Molecule’s website, they say that they’ll be working with Punchdrunk to "explore the crossover between digital and theatrical performance, offering a unique opportunity to work across two rapidly evolving sectors." and although this is somewhat vague, Punchdrunk will be recruiting a digital designer to try to combine the cutting edge technology between Media Molecule’s Dreams with real life experiences.

Punchdrunk are best known for their work with Sleep No More, an immersive theatre experience that plays out around the punters in a live space, with audience members marking themselves are non-participating punters by wearing masks. They’re trailblazers when it comes to storytelling in theatrical performance work, and so although we don’t know much about the exact nature of the partnership between Media Molecule and Punchdrunk just yet, it could be something exciting to keep an eye on.

If you’re interested in the role of Digital Designer, which will be based at Punchdrunk’s London offices, or more details on what the partnership hopes to achieve, you can take a look at the blog post on Media Molecule’s site.
