Mercedes DLC skidding into Mario Kart 8 this month

Mario Kart 8 will be the recipient of both DLC and a software update later this month.

August 27th will see the release of the licensed Mercedes DLC containing three free, oddly real-world cars – the GLA, 300 SL Roadster and 1930’s Silver Arrow.

Also on the way via a patch are some usability tweaks, not least of which is the ability to display track maps on the TV as you play on the Wii U Gamepad. A new stats page will also track a user’s play history, showing amongst other things your win-loss record.

Kart setups will also be saved between sessions meaning that upon loading things will be just as they were the last time you played. ‘Next Race’ and ‘Watch Highlights’ will also be swapped on the menu screen and online stability will apparently be improved.
