New Year, New Job 2015: Senior software engineer needed for "next installment in beloved strategy franchise"

Microsoft hiring for new strategy studio Decisive Games

Microsoft has opened a new studio that is dedicated to building strategy games for Windows and Xbox – and it’s hiring.

According to a job ad spotted by AllGamesBeta, the new studio is called Decisive Games and is staffed by "a highly-collaborative, agile team, with a play-centric approach to game development".

The listing calls for a senior software engineer to work on Decisive’s current project: "the next installment in a beloved strategy game franchise". So Age of Empires, right?

Candidates will be required to solve a range of engineering problems and lead the team in building the networking and multiplayer elements of the game.

They will need four or more years programming experience in C++, plus expertise in networking, web services, algorithms and optimisation. Candidates also need to have shipped at least one game title, and have worked with common Windows platform APIs and toolsets – such as Visual Studio – as well as Xbox Live services.
