Microsoft in negotiations with Showtime for Halo TV deal – report

Microsoft Xbox Entertainment Studios is reportedly in deep negotiations” with cable television network Showtime to create a live-action Halo drama series.

Variety reports the two companies are close to a deal,” with the current hangup apparently revolving around how the series would be aired between Showtime’s network and Microsoft’s Xbox entertainment hub.

The Halo TV series in question was revealed in May 2013, with Steven Speilberg taking on the role of producer. According to the report’s sources, the plan is to have episodes show on Showtime first, followed by the Xbox window.

"The ‘Halo’ Television series, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, remains on track. We have no further comment," an Xbox representative told Polygon. "We do not comment on speculation or rumor."
