Mojang readying Scrolls official launch for next month

Strategy card game Scrolls is set to transition from open beta to full release before the end of November, developer Mojang has revealed.

Speaking with Touch Arcade, Mojang’s Owen Hill explained that the Microsoft-owned studio’s third commercial effort (following Minecraft and Cobalt) should be out by late November – if all goes according to plan that is.

The guesstimate is late November. But we’re not going to release it until it’s ready, if you know what I mean."

Hill also touched on the impact, or lack thereof, Microsoft’s acquisition of Mojang will have on the title moving forward.

"There’s a good chance that the only effect is that we’ll have to add a Microsoft logo to the launcher or something."

Scrolls is currently available in open beta on Windows PC and Mac platforms, and recently received a price drop from $20 to $5. The upcoming iOS version will be a free download packing a $5 in-app purchase that unlocks the full game.

Those who don’t pay initially will have limited account access to play several games at before being prompted to buy the full version – basically a limited demo from the sounds of it.
