Development legend says Jobs is "without doubt the most revered creative genius"

Molyneux: Jobs’s vision will shape games for years

Games development legend Peter Molyneux has paid tribute Steve Jobs, as the technology world reels from the loss of the Apple visionary.

Molyneux, who himself is widely considered a legend in his own field, said Jobs is “without doubt the most revered and quoted creative genius”.

"Steve Jobs single handily proved that great design make great products,” he told MCV.

“We in the games industry will feel the benefits of his brilliance for many decades to come."

Steve Jobs passed away yesterday in his California home, following a private battle with pancreatic cancer. His family says he died peacefully and was surrounded by loved ones.

Some of the most respected people in the games industry have paid their respects to Jobs. id Software co-founder John Carmack said “the world is richer for his contributions."

Casey Hudson, executive producer of the Mass Effect series, said Jobs “wrote a key thread in the narrative of my life, from Apple II to iPad. Can’t imagine what it would have been like without him”.

Develop is collecting a list of tributes to Steve Jobs from across the games sector – the industry that he and Apple reinvented with smartphones.
