When Facebook introduced a policy change on ‘spam’ notifications, player numbers for many of the games that occupy space on the leading social network reportedly dropped sharply. However, that trend is set to change, according to the CCO of tech firm and developer Monumental, even if things will remain tough for new entrants to the choppy waters of developing games for Facebook.
According to the likes of 1UP, when Facebook banned the notifications that many games uses as part of their social elements, 18 of the top 25 games lost players compared to the previous month. In fact, a dozen of those games lost over 1 million active users.
However, for now there’s little reason for developers to worry, according to Monumental’s Paul Mayze.
