Moshi Monsters to go live with music extravaganza

Children’s toy empire Mind Candy is to release a music album and tour the UK early next year, company founder Michael Acton Smith has revealed.

He also announced a Moshi Christmas single and expects sales of the popular £1.99 soft toys to exceed 20 million units this holiday season.

Regarding the live show, Acton Smith said, "The music will be the driver. We love Kiss, the makeup and the pyrotechnics, and the Muppet Show was a huge inspiration for me as a kid.

"A lot of kids’ brands do live experience with people in costumes," he said. "We want something cooler, nearer a concert experience. "

Talking about the success of the Shoreditch-based company, he admitted, “It’s a little surreal – we spent many years building the website, and in the last year we’ve realised how well everything is selling online, even I’m a little surprised."

Moshi Monsters broke onto the scene as a browser game now played by one in three British children between the ages of 7 and 11. The site has over 50 million registered users.
