My.Games launches new investment initiative to develop triple-A shooter

My.Games – the new name of rebranded Russian company My.com – has launched My.Studio, a new investment initiative to “find and fund a new AAA partner developer”. Running from now until September 30th, 2019, the project not only hopes to fund the development of a triple-A shooter, but will also “work closely with the winner on development, customer support, legal and studio operations”.

The winning studio will be announced by the end of 2019 and remain legally and creatively independent from My.Games. Applicants are expected to have a full “triple-A console shooter concept” and at least five years experience working on Triple-A games, as well as be able to present a detailed concept.

“With My.Studio, our goal is to support creative, innovative developers worldwide found their own studio and reach their full potential,” said Ilya Karpinsky, managing director of My.Games investment division. “We’re gamers first, so we’re really excited to find the next big thing in AAA shooters.

“We’re publishers, but we’re also developers. We understand how important it is to retain creative freedom when signing up to a partnership like this. So with My.Studio, we want the teams to focus on the project itself, while we handle all of the operational organizational issues.”

My.Games is a new international gaming brand that will develop, publish and fund new games, including upcoming titles Lost Ark, Conqueror’s Blade and a mobile release of Warface. All of the company’s existing gaming projects published under the Mail.ru Group brand in Russia – or My.com internationally – will “now be united under My.Games”.

The company says the change comes after “rapid international growth” and a Q1 2019 revenue of more than $100 million. In 2018, 63 per cent of the firm’s gaming revenue came from international markets, making it “one of the top 50 global gaming companies in the world by revenue” with more than 540 million players – 90 per cent of which are based outside Russia.
