Not content with moving into full games development, NaturalMotion has today opened its own publishing division.
Focusing first on iOS games, NaturalMotion Games’ mission-statement is ‘to develop, produce and publish quality titles that offer consumers a new avenue of immersion and accessibility’.
The firm, based in Oxford, UK and San Francisco, is best known for its popular Develop Award-winning animation technology – Morpheme and bespoke solution Euphoria.
NaturalMotion got a flavour for self-publishing earlier in the year when it released Backbreaker for iPhone, the spin-off of its console American Football title. It’s working on the sequel, subtitled Vengeance, and also today confirmed it is working on an iPhone game based on Jenga.
The company told Develop that it will be publishing games on non-iPhone channels but hasn’t confirmed which ones yet.
A representative also said it will "continue to invest in the console side of game development but digital distribution will be the priority".

“We believe there is a significant opportunity in combining the ease of use and connectivity of social games with the stunning performance of modern devices such iOS, Android and consoles.
"The success of our debut title Backbreaker has given us a strong entry into this market and we will expand on this with Backbreaker 2 and Jenga, as well as our range of upcoming additional projects.”
The original Backbreaker Football has had 3m downloads via the App Store phenomenon and is "one of the most popular sports titles on the platform and a showcase for the power of smart phone technology". Sequel Vengeance adds a raft of new features.
Jenga, meanwhile, is being made in consultation with Jenga creator Leslie Scott and Jenga licensor Pokonobe Associates – it promises to replicate all the tower physics and fun of the real-world block-staking game, powered by NaturalMotion’s technology.
Both games are due out in time for Christmas.
The firm says it will be announcing more games in the months ahead.
