NBA star Jeremy Lin endorses new Chinese Dota 2 super team

Jeremy Lin, point guard for NBA team the Brooklyn Nets and known Dota fan, has endorsed the new ViCi Gaming J Dota 2 team.

Lin signed an agreement with China Digital Group and ViCi Gaming to create the new team, which will feature Lin as the team’s honorary captain.

The starting roster of Vici Gaming J features Zheng "Agressif" Sun, Xin "Nono" Wang, Fan "rOtK" Bai, Zhi "hym" Xu and Chao "Fenrir" Lu, making it, on paper at least, one of the strongest teams in the region.

Just how involved Lin will be remains to be seen, however he has popped up in many video packages at The International over the years, professing his love for Dota 2, so an entirely hands off role would be surprising.

Lin is of course not the first NBA star to get involved with eSports, Jonas Jerebko of the Boston Celtics purchased Renegades just a few weeks back, and former NBA star Rick Fox set up his own team last year. Even Shaquille O’Neal is involved, as he is a shareholder in NRG eSports.
