’50/50′ chance The Last of Us receives sequel, says creative director

There’s a 50/50 shot The Last of Us will get a second standalone title, according to creative director Neil Druckmann.

Kotaku has dug around Druckmann’s ‘Ask Me Anything’ Reddit post, and produced a few notable items – including the chances of turning the game into a series.

"If you’re asking about a sequel … right now I’d say it’s 50/50,” Druckmann said.

The site rightfully points out that, while the game has scored dozens of awards and sold excellently for a PS3-exclusive, it would seem the story has already been tidily wrapped up. The game’s DLC add-on Left Behind launched earlier this month – serving as a prequel of sorts for Ellie’s character.

Druckmann also mentioned that though Joel and Ellie’s story has come to an end, he’d be open to seeing them in different mediums” – suggesting the possibility of a film or television/web series.

"I miss them dearly. I’d love to see them again – maybe in a different medium? We’ll see."
